The cognac flats down in the front were worn on my first date with my husband. I paired them with cropped, slender jeans and a black, slightly sheer tank and a wicked haircut. We went for a long walk on the beach, and I credit the demise of these shoes to that date. I never wore them after that...until now.
The leopard print heels at center right were part of the ensemble I wore when I was photographed by the Sartorialist (an ensemble photo, see it here ). I selected a black pencil skirt, gray tee, obnoxiously long black cardigan, cut off black tights, and the leopard booties. The booties are so worn they are losing their fur in patches, but I had them resoled anyway.
The black heels in the upper right were, believe it or not, one of the first pairs of heels I bought and wore regularly. I started late with the heels, but I sure am making up for lost time. I didn't resole them, but I had brand new heel caps put on so I can add a few more miles to their history. I bought them well over a decade ago.
The ostrich print heels are my favorites. They are like ballet slippers with heels. I feel like I can do anything in these, so I wear them on days when I need strength.
I've saved the most fantastic for last - black nubuck and patent leather beauties with inner platforms bought for a song at Jeremy's discount boutique. They weigh about five pounds, but add about five inches. They go with everything, and are the right proportion for my dancer's calves. My magical cobbler even managed to get the streaks off the patent leather. How do they do that?
Now I'm off to plan tomorrow's outfit. I have so many more options now!
i love walking down memory lane via shoes!!! I gotta think of the equivalent for me cuz my shoes are too boring.
