When I first met Stephanie years ago, I couldn't stop staring at her. She was wearing a vintage 60s shift over a Peter Pan collar blouse, and had a complicated, period-appropriate hairstyle topped with a tiny, white bow. Stephanie has a killer knack for making vintage clothing her own by updating with modern accessories that smack of quirk. She should receive awards for her vintage shopping prowess; then she should get another one for her styling. I am frequently inspired by her fashion pairings – daring and dynamic, carefree and dare I say, comfortable? In other words, she is full of cheek.
Stephanie is a woman with a big heart, a big, open mind, and a lust for life that is nothing less than infectious. Recently we stayed at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs for a pre-holiday Holiday, and she was kind enough to let me photograph her every fashionable move.
This is Steph.

In a nod to Audrey, she is wearing a check blouse with puff sleeves and neck tie, cropped black pants, and green patent leather flats. I loved that Stephanie only packed three pairs of shoes: these flats, slides for the pool, and sneakers to hike in. I packed six pairs, but in my defense, I wore them all.
Flats by J. Crew.
We were pretty quick to develop a routine at the resort: languid breakfast; hot tub soak / heated pool drifting; walkabout / window shop; gigantic lunch; nap; hot tub soak / heated pool drifting; long showers; gussy up for proper cocktail hour; late night dinner; hot tub soak / heated pool drifting. Sleep. Repeat.
I must admit that in the few moments I was away from Stephanie, I couldn't wait to see what she was going to wear to the next "out of the room" moment. I often texted her, "What are YOU wearing?". I just couldn't wait.

Although the rain storms hit Southern California toward the end of our stay, we managed to make the most of it. Stephanie's homeward bound outfit struck me as incredibly chic.

We had one, last hurrah at the Parker Palm Springs. Breakfast for all before we took off on our separate paths. Stephanie and I were fortunate enough to get "lost" on the Parker's immaculate grounds before we made our way to breakfast. Here's what we saw:

Sadly, Stephanie’s sweet cat, Celeste, passed during our stay in Palm Springs. She lived a long, beloved life, and this post is dedicated to her. Rest in peace, darling kitty.
